The latest generation of dual-cure composite core build-up materials offer significant advantages when compared to dental silver amalgam. Unlike amalgam, the composite core can be placed and prepared for a crown in the same visit, saving chair time. Also, large tooth preparations restored with composite core build-ups can be retained with a variety of adhesives and don't require pins or posts. A significant problem with large preparations is the inability to place a matrix. With composite core build-up materials in these compromised situations, the tooth can be restored without the use of a matrix.
This CE webinar will present a rationale for selection of composite core build-up materials and techniques for success. Upon completion of this CE webinar, the student will be able to: Understand the indications for composite core build-up restorative materials; Identify the adhesive techniques that promote clinical success with these materials; identify curing choices with composite core build-up materials; implement techniques for the placement of composite cores
