Presenter Bio
Dr. Gerald Curatola Dr. Gerry Curatola is a renowned biologic restorative dentist with more than 35 years of clinical practice experience. As a pioneer in the emerging field of Cosmetic Dentistry in the mid-1980’s, Dr. Curatola consulted in the research and development of many cosmetic restorative materials, and he has lectured internationally to over 10,000 dentists on adhesive dentistry, the application of porcelain veneers, advanced composite technologies, and all ceramic restorations in more than 12 countries including China and India. Dr. Curatola also helped pioneer the clinical introduction of CAD/CAM dentistry (3-D printing) since 1993, and studied with CEREC inventor,,Dr. Werner Mormann, at the Univ. of Zurich, Switzerland. He was among the first CEREC 1 users in clinical practice in the United States.

In 1996, Dr. Curatola turned his interest to the human microbiome and the relationship of oral health to systemic wellness. He attended Harvard Medical School’s program in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) from 1996-1997 and began his research on the biocompatibility of many dental materials especially in oral care products. He is the co-inventor of the first “prebiotic” oral care formulation, Revitin (revitin.com) which is based on the emerging science of the oral microbiome.

Dr. Curatola is the founder of Rejuvenation Dentistry®, a multi-specialty integrative dental practice in New York City based on the principles of bioregulatory healthcare. He studied neuroscience at Colgate University and attended dental school at the New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry where he now serves as Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Cariology and Comprehensive Care. Dr. Curatola serves on the Fellowship Committee for the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine (AIHM), and is a member of the International Academy of Biologic Dentistry & Medicine (IABDM), the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT), the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), and the American Dental Association (ADA). Dr. Curatola dedicated the Curatola Wing for Clinical Research at New York University to promote translational research in 2006, and he has more than 20 years of oral microbiome research experience. Dr. Curatola is listed in the Guide to America’s Top Dentists, the Leading Physicians of the World, and Top Dentists of New York. He is the recipient of the Acton Medal at NYU for outstanding contributions to the University. Dr. Curatola’s new book, The Mouth-Body Connection, released by Hachette Publishing, 2017, explores the bi-directional relationship behind oral health and systemic wellness. A television series based on this is under development.
