A primary objective of restorative dentistry is to replace, through adhesive technology, only what the tooth has lost due to function or decay. While dental material science has made great strides in recent years, it has not been able to overcome the problem of hydrolysis of double bonds in adhesives. This is due to the high water content of dentin. However, the use of restorative bioactive materials largely solves this problem, and today provides improved clinical pathways for restorative dentistry. |
