Materials that are called “bioactive” have begun to take market share and gained interest over the last 10 years. To some, the term bioactive has become synonymous with hype. This is unfortunate, as there is something important occurring with these materials. Instead of calling them bioactive, perhaps they should be termed “bio-interactive,” because they can interact with variously demineralized teeth and provide needed ions to help heal damaged structure.
