The goal of this program is to introduce the participant to the use of micro-ultrasonics in periodontal disease prevention and biofilm management therapy. The history and evolving development of ultrasonic instruments, ongoing science and information to facilitate the successful procedural applications of ultrasonics in your practice will be explored in a fun, upbeat interactive format.
Upon completion of this CE webinar, the student will have learned the following: • History and use of powered scaling in periodontal patient management. • The role of deposits and toxins in periodontal disease progression • Compare and discuss differences in ultrasonic units • Compare micro-ultrasonic scaling vs. manual. Which is optimal for creating an oral environment compatible with health resulting in the most thorough care? • Discuss and define the goals of periodontal debridement • Discuss the contradictions of manual as well as micro-ultrasonic instrumentation. • Hands on instruction with magnetostrictive, piezo equipment and inserts to develop clinical confidence • Increasing treatment productivity-ergonomic comfort reduces hand and body fatigue • Infection control for procedures and equipment care • Communication/demonstration techniques to insure that patients will ask for ultrasonic therapy.
