Today, the definition of bioactivity is expanding in dentistry by virtue of the many new “smart” materials that are emerging into the dental marketplace. So what exactly does “bioactivity” mean in dentistry today? In addition to the effect of fluoride on healthy hydroxyapatite via conversion to fluorapatite, the ability of a material to contribute calcium and phosphate ions to help rebuild demineralized tooth structure is the new paradigm. By definition, this means the precipitation of apatite crystals on the surface of the material in the presence of moisture (saliva). It’s not just about fluoride any more. In this informative CE webinar, Dr. Lowe will discuss how these bioactive dental materials are influencing the way we approach the selection of luting agents for cementation of crown and bridge restorations.

Upon completion of this CE webinar, the student will have learned
• the importance of bioactivity as it relates to dental luting cements
• the specific clinical factors that influence choosing the optimal crown and bridge luting cement for each case
• to demonstrate the versatility and ease of use of Calcium Aluminate cement technology in a variety of clinical cases
• the importance of biocompatibility of the luting agent in the cementation of implant born crown and bridge restorations   ( disclaimer, bio and commercial disclosure )
