Patient care extends beyond the time spent in your operatory, what an individual does at home impacts their smile and systemic health every day of the year. Take a stroll down any store aisle and the choices of oral care items is overwhelming, patients look to dental professionals for insight and recommendations for everything from hypersensitivity solutions to caries prevention and whitening. Few individuals have perfect oral health whereas most adults at least one oral health concern. Recommending solution options for patient risk and concerns can lead to increased patient satisfaction and improved oral and health outcomes.
Biofilm is the common thread between periodontal disease and dental caries. Biofilm forms immediately after dental prophylaxis and has been shown to cause or contribute to a plethora of oral-systemic issues. Proper home care will help to manage the biofilm and help our patients to maintain a healthy oral environment.
Long COVID has affected 23 million Americans, pushing an estimated 1 million out of work. However significant, the full magnitude of health and economic effects is yet to be determined. The causes of long COVID are not fully understood, complicating diagnosis and treatment. This CE webinar educates the dental professional on the patient’s systemic and oral health risks post-COVID-19.
The objective of this CE webinar is to present a cookbook to recognize implant disease and prevent loss of implants with innovative chairside techniques to reverse implant mucositis. For peri implantitis, we show success via minimally invasive protocols with progressive technology. And for our patients, user friendly oral hygiene practices are described, so patients can utilize tools and medicaments to maintain the life of their respective implants.

In this CE webinar, please join us as we explore how oral healthcare providers can make a significant difference in identifying patients who have asymptomatic or poorly controlled diabetes, and how glycemic control influences periodontal stability in the reduced periodontium of a patient with diabetes. Addressing diabetes has always been of paramount importance; however, with what we've learned about how diabetes may increase susceptibility to life-threatening viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 and associated complications, there has never been a more critical time for OHPCs to join the fight against diabetes.
Mask mouth, hypersensitivity, bleeding gingiva and the list goes on! Much like a fingerprint no two dental patients or their needs are the same. Whether you are treating a child or a more seasoned patient their homecare needs and routines may vary. In the midst of the pandemic oral self-care has changed and patients are delaying dental visits. In turn, dental professionals are faced with the challenge of educating and treating patients who have let oral self-care diminish. This CE webinar will offer an insight into creating customized care plans and motivational techniques to encourage optimal patient homecare.
This CE webinar advocates for the non-traditional role of OHCPs in screening patients for several noncommunicable diseases and explores the drivers of this transformation in dentistry and dental hygiene. Several technologies for medical screening (chairside) will be introduced, including glucose and lipid analyses. Challenges to implementing these non-traditional services into the dental practice will also be discussed. The CE webinar concludes by inviting participants to take part in a poll that will seek to determine OHCPs’ attitudes about implementing medical screening, their feelings of competency to perform these procedures, and education and training necessary to be successful in this new practice paradigm.
During this CE webinar, attendees will learn:
• That salivary or molecular diagnostics can assist in periodontal disease management.
• How inflammation generated from oral conditions associates with the vascular disease process as well as other systemic risks.
• That augmenting, or rebranding, a traditional reparative/restorative dental practice is possible with awareness about how oral health issues contribute to total body wellness.
• How our periodontal therapy teams are on the front lines of this movement.
Worldwide, an estimated 390 million people have diabetes - and that number keeps growing. This patient population has specialized needs when it comes to periodontal care. Treating diabetic patients is different than nondiabetic patients. This CE webinar provides cut-to-the-chase explanations about the interrelationship between diabetes and periodontal disease and information to empower oral healthcare providers to screen dental patients for diabetes and prediabetes, articulate scientifically-founded, key messages for patient education about this interrelationship, and better understand how poor glycemic control in a diabetic patient should influence treatment planning. This CE webinar is a must for clinicians who are still treating patients who have diabetes the same way they treat patients without diabetes.
