Dental sealants are a staple for caries prevention but little has been done to update or upgrade their physical characteristics. In addition, they often appear to be deceptively simple to use and place. In reality, many of the complex bonding parameters influencing direct composite resin restorations affect the retention and longevity of pit and fissure dental sealants. This CE webinar will review evidence of dental sealant use and describe the critical parameters for long-term sealant retention. A newly developed technology will also be described as a novel and effective platform for promoting sustained enamel remineralization from a pit and fissure dental resin based dental sealant.

Older formulations of pastes containing Recaldent required the “extra step” of application after routine oral hygiene practices. A new brush-on variation of this paste is now available; the extra step of application is eliminated and this toothpaste has additional benefits and indications. This technology is beneficial to a wide variety and some very specific patient populations- some may surprise you! In this CE webinar, don't miss out on learning about this new, innovative and highly beneficial technology!
In the last few years, several new posterior composites and light curing trends have been introduced that are intended to reduce the number of steps and save time when placing a posterior composite restoration. Bulk curing resin composites are now available that produce less shrinkage stress and can be light cured in up to 5 mm thick increments instead of the customary 2 mm thickness. Also, now that high output LED curing lights are available, this has created an expectation that teeth can be restored using just one large increment of composite in a shorter curing time. However, photo-curing of dental composites is governed by an array of complex interactions such as the light intensity, exposure time, photoinitiator system, initiator/light source spectral overlap, and the collective material optical properties. Consequently, light curing dental materials is not as simple as light on, and light off. This CE webinar will attempt to provide some insights into the complexities of photopolymerization and establish if the recent trend to bulk cure large composites in using short exposure times are realistic expectations, or just dreams that are too good to be true?
If current adhesion techniques are confusing, you are not alone! This CE webinar will bring clarity to the products on the market today along with lending a better understanding of how and when they are used. Clinicians should expect to gain insight and develop a strong foundational knowledge of adhesives whether used in a direct restoration placement or an indirect method.
Dr. Bob Kaspers will show how a CBCT scan can help orthodontists diagnose their patients more accurately than with 2D radiographs. He will also show the clinician the importance of addressing the vertical dimension to enable the patient to achieve a seated condylar position at the end of orthodontic treatment. If you want to make your referring dentists happy, you will want to learn this technique.
In this information filled CE webinar, Dr. Lowe will discuss and demonstrate techniques to simplify the placement of direct posterior composite restorations.
