This CE webinar will provide an overview of the COVID-19 virus with an emphasis on precautions to take in a dental health care setting. Discussion will include a refresher of standard precautions, an explanation of transmission-based precautions, and how a tiered approach to infection control can be implemented to address pathogens transmitted by the airborne or droplet route.

Dental clinicians are wondering if they should use respirators for all patients, if they should limit the use of aerosol-producing devices, how to screen patients, and how to manage patients who are sick and in need of emergency dental care. The course will provide the answers based on current public health guidelines and the latest available information from reliable sources.

Upon completion of this CE webinar, the student will be able to:
• Describe the mode of transmission of COVID-19
• Define the difference between standard precautions and transmission-based precautions for infection prevention
• Determine which procedures and policies may be appropriate for their setting to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19   ( disclaimer, bio and commercial disclosure )
