The term cryotherapy is derived from the Greek word cryos, meaning “cold”. The application of cold to human tissue has been shown to decrease nerve conduction velocity, reduce hemorrhage and edema, along with inflammation. Although the use of cyrotherapy has been common practice in medicine and other fields within dentistry, to date, it has not been applied in vital pulp therapy (VPT). The integration of cryotherapy on pulpal tissue exposed or indirectly exposed, due to a carious lesion, in conjunction with EDTA, bioceramics and restorative materials has shown to reduce postoperative pain and increase the long-term pulpal prognosis after VPT treatment. This CE webinar will cover clinical case selection, treatment and prognosis, through the understanding of proper diagnosis, materials and biological considerations, when performing vital pulp cryotherapy treatment.

Upon completion of this CE webinar, the student will be able to:
• Implement vital pulp cryotherapy treatment.
• Become more familiar with why vital pulp cryotherapy in junction with EDTA, bioceramics and restorative treatment reduces postoperative pain and increases long-term prognosis.
• Understand the importance of re-evaluating our pulpal diagnosis terminology and biological goals when performing vital pulp cryotherapy treatment.   ( disclaimer, bio and commercial disclosure )
