The Minamata Convention on Mercury was crafted with the goal of preventing mercury emissions from harming human and environmental health. It has been estimated that dental offices in the US are responsible for approximately 50% of the mercury that enters our waste water. Amalgam separators are now required for all new offices and must be installed by 2020 for existing practices.

For health, environmental and esthetic reasons most dentists have reduced or completely eliminated the use of amalgam and moved towards composites for direct posterior restorations. In this CE webinar, you’ll learn about the goals of the Minamata Convention, the practical implications of the EPA regulations governing amalgam disposal, and how to avoid the “7 Deadly Sins of Posterior Composites”. These practical tips are designed to help you with prep design, matrix placement, material adaptation and finishing/polishing to help you create durable, long lasting and esthetic posterior composites.

Upon completion of this CE webinar, the student will
• Understand the goals of the Minamata Convention on Dental Amalgam and related US regulations
• Appreciate the difference in prep design required for composite versus amalgam restorations
• Identify tips and tricks that will improve the contacts, adaptation, and esthetics of your posterior composite restorations   ( disclaimer, bio and commercial disclosure )
